A passive infrared motion detector is a security system that works mainly on detecting body heat of human beings and animal whose radiation is strongest at a wavelength of 9.4 um. This is ideally used in houses that are left in an extended period. Say family is going out for a long vacation. It is an electronic gadget that measures infrared light energy radiating from objects within its field of view known as blackbody radiation. This can be detected by various designed electronic devices however invisible to human eye. It is called a passive detector since it does not emit an infrared beam, thus accepts incoming infrared signals.

How does a passive infrared motion detector works? When a person enters a monitored area, the intruder’s body heat is focused by a mirror segment or known As the Fresnel lens – a Plano Convex flat lens that retains optical capability and overlaps the zone of the chip that was previously looking at some lower temperature protected areas such as walls. This system can detect a motion as far as 6 feet away. As the person moves, the hot spot surface of the chip moves along the motion causing the electronics on chip to de-energize the relay sending signals to the control panel resulting alarm activation.

The passive infrared motion detector is very small that makes it easy to conceal. The size of this is just about an inch that is barely noticeable. It is recommended to place this motion detector on entrance and exit doors. However, since it detects body heat, this does not exempt the presence of dogs unless you take the dogs with you when you are out for a vacation or vacate dogs in areas that can’t be reached by the infrared receptors. Do not forget to keep possessions safe when you are away.

It is very easy to blame the worldwide crisis for the hardships and money problems more people have been suffering from, with many of them being forced to commit crimes. This is the reason why individuals are now putting safety and security high in their list of basic needs. It is a good thing that technology has lead us to a huge number of measures that can limit or even eradicate the possibility of your home being burglarized with the use of security doors through locks, alarms, video security cameras, etc.

Since these home security measures that you will most likely be able to purchase nowadays are already modern and innovative, it may surprise you to know that burglar alarms were invented in the USA almost a century ago; 88 years to be exact. These initial burglar alarms, similar to today’s, are fitted in windows and doors and can be unlocked by an identity card or codes. It is that long time ago and yet, you can already see the technological prowess of humans.

Today’s security doors are still very much the same, only more modern and very much technologically advanced. They are normally more inconspicuous and are already close to impossible to pick or decode even by expert burglars and thieves. They may not be very affordable, unlike deadbolts and ordinary locks but they are nevertheless worth it. Who can put a price on peace of mind anyway?

If you looking to install your own alarms and security door locks, you may still want to reconsider. It is critical that they are installed properly and accurately with no room at all for mistakes or you have lives and properties at stake. If however you are an engineer or a highly technical person who can be considered an authority with such devices, then by all means do it. Otherwise, you should simply shell out the amount that will afford the services of a professional who can install all the needed locks and alarms with accuracy.

To have an idea how these security door locks, alarms, surveillance cameras, video phones and many other types of safety and security measures that you can place in your home for protection, simply browse the internet and learn about them and how they can help you.

Before, people could find safety and security in the comforts of their home. But these days, even your home is not safe. There are several cases of burglaries and other crimes that took place inside people’s houses. It is not enough that you lock your doors because intruders will find a way to pry your locks open. What you need is additional security that will tell would-be intruders that you mean business and to back off.

One way to make your home and property safer and more secure is by installing fake security cameras. When choosing a fake security camera, you should choose something that looks very real. The burglars, trespassers, or even people who happen to pass by your property should not be able to tell the difference between the real and the fake security camera.

You might ask, why waste your money buying fake security cameras, why not buy the real thing that can monitor certain area sin your home and property? Here are some of the main reasons for installing fake security cameras.

First, fake cameras are way cheaper than real cameras. You can buy them for as low as $30. Real security cameras cost as much as several hundred dollars, which is too heavy for many people’s pocketbooks. Security cameras can deter intruders or burglars just like real cameras. The only difference is that fake cameras cannot record and show footage, unlike real cameras.

Some burglars who realized that there is a camera in the property might decide to break the gadget. If the burglar broke a fake security camera, it would not be a big deal because it is cheap. But if the burglar broke a real security camera, it means you just lost a gadget worth several hundred dollars. Many people install real cameras in hidden areas in their house and they install fake cameras in obvious places for this reason. And even if the fake cam is broken, you will still be able to catch the burglar because your real camera is still recording.

These are just a couple of reasons why people install fake security cameras at home in addition to their real security cameras. You should also think about investing in these cheap security gadgets to keep burglars and intruders off your property.

Home burglaries are on the rise, and the truth is most of them aren’t well planned crimes – they’re crimes of opportunity. Some hoodlum sees a home that looks vulnerable, they see that they can easily gain access, and they go for it. It totally sucks when this happens, but in these tough times, the reality is that the incidence of things like this happening is only going up.

The good news is that there is a fairly easy and relatively inexpensive solution that can go a long way towards discouraging these boneheads from targeting your home. Consider the use of fake security cameras.

One of the wonderful things about the advancement of technology is that things such as home surveillance cameras are much more affordable and therefore much more common than they have ever been. Therefore more and more homes and small businesses are utilizing this technology, making it riskier for thugs to do their business because they know there is a good chance they’ll be ‘caught on tape’ (even though most of these are now ‘caught on a hard drive’, but that’s besides the point).

The thing is, for many people, it’s still just too much money to be able to set up a real home surveillance system. Not to worry… the crooks don’t need to know your budget!

You can simply buy realistic looking fake security cameras and your home will look like it has some of the best residential security systems around. At the main potential points of entry such as the front door, back door, side door and/or garage, you can get what looks like a small but totally functioning security camera, complete with a red blinking light and cables running into the wall where it is securely mounted. Think about it… if a criminal sees one of these cameras in an obvious place, do you think they’re going to bother to come up close and personal with it to verify whether or not it is totally legit? If they’re wrong and it IS a real camera… they’re busted! And if they find out that THIS camera is a fake… what is the guarantee that the next one isn’t the real deal?

This is a technique used by many businesses; they do incorporate a real surveillance system of a few cameras, but they will have many other ‘dummy security cameras’ positioned elsewhere (or else the dark, semi-globes in the ceiling, indicating there is a camera behind it potentially looking in any direction).

For those of us who can’t afford to spend a lot of money but want to do what we can to dissuade any possible intruders, a small investment in fake security cameras may be just what you’re looking for.

In challenging economic times like we’re experiencing now, many homeowners find themselves in a dilemma in which fake security cameras may well be able to help them. You see, with unemployment high and more and more people hurting, it’s inevitable that home burglaries and even home invasions will be on the rise as desperate people turn to desperate means. Of course we all want and need to protect our families and our property, but at the same time, we’re struggling just to get by and the thought of coming up with a bunch of money to deter these would-be criminals is just too difficult to deal with. What you need is an inexpensive solution to help tell these creeps to move along and NOT target your house. And fake security cameras can serve that purpose quite well indeed.

The first thing worth noting before we go any further is that while fake cameras that imitate the real closed circuit TV camerals (or cctv security cameras) may be a deterrent to some opportunistic criminals, in reality they do nothing to actually help in crime fighting.

What I mean by that is that a real security camera should be able to help you identify, catch and prosecute any criminal that perpetrates a crime on your property. If you rely on nothing but fake cameras and something actually does go down at your house or business… you’re not going to have anything on record to help your cause. So…

With that said, and with the understanding that ‘fake security cameras’ aren’t the equivalent of a real residential security system, it is worth looking at them as a kind of band aid and something that may serve you well without you needing to shell out a whole lot of money.

You see, many home burglaries are nothing more than crimes of opportunity. What that means is that someone is passing by, or maybe they have even been casing your neighborhood for a while, and when they decide to strike, your house is the one they (unfortunately) decide to zero in on. For a situation like this, consider for a moment if you were in the perpetrator’s shoes; You walk up to the house you’ve decided to break into, and whether it’s the front door, back door or garage, before you decide to force the lock you look around and see… a surveillance camera with a red blinking light pointing right at where you will need to be standing to get to the door. What are you going to do?

I’ll tell you what most hoodlums will do – they’ll move along and decide NOT to target your home! And guess how much that fake security camera cost you? Probably somewhere between $30 and $50. Not bad!

If you doubt that a fake camera has any real power to deter, think about this for a moment.

Have you ever been driving down the street or highway and you’re not paying attention to your speed (or maybe you even know that you’re exceeding the speed limit). All of a sudden, you see a black and white police car parked on the side of the road. Whoa! You’re going to step on your breaks, even if you WEREN’T speeding, just to play it safe. And guess what? You don’t even know for sure if there is a police officer sitting in that car or not. It might be empty and you’re in zero danger of getting a ticket for breaking the law. But… you’re not going to wait to find out if it’s a ‘legitimate’ speed trap or not, are you? No! You’re just going to do your best to be a law abiding citizen as you go about your business.

It’s the same thing with a fake security camera! Why would a thief bother to come and take a close look to figure out if it’s a ‘legitimate’ camera? Because maybe it IS, in which case they are totally busted! Instead, they’re just going to take the easy way out (they are criminals after all, right?), and move along to a new target.

Again, when it comes to your family and your home security, I don’t recommend cutting any corners unnecessarily. At the same time, I understand all too well the situation that far too many of us are in, and we still need to do whatever we can to protect our loved ones. Even if you already have some sort of residential security system in place, adding fake security cameras to the mix can be a good way to add just a little bit more… to keep those crooks second guessing just a little bit more.

While outdoor wireless security camera systems may seem to be similar, do not be fooled. You get what you pay for and if you are not familiar with what is on the market then you many not get the system you are looking for.

Outdoor wireless security camera systems are an important part of a residential security system. Many people choose to install home alarm systems for any number of reasons. The number of residential security systems on the market today can be to numerous to count. Every one of the home alarm systems that are on the market offer different features. While they may seem to be similar, do not be fooled. You get what you pay for and if you are not familiar with what is on the market then you many not get the system you are looking for.

Home alarm systems can work very differently. Some work through telephone lines and others through cable lines. Finding residential security systems that have the important components you want can be difficult. First, you have to know what you want. Do you just want a system that makes a lot of noise or do you want a system that is going to send police and respond to the situation with a live person? Regardless of which direction you choose to go, one of the best items you can include in your home security is the outdoor wireless security camera.

In order to ensure total security, an outdoor wireless security camera is one of the most valuable tools that a home security company will use. Movie stars and others with wealth use a wireless home security camera as the most important component to their residential security system. Home alarm systems often use a wireless home security camera as the main component. Other devices may be used along with a security camera.

Security guards, lasers that detect movement, security rooms (also referred to as ‘safe rooms’) that are designed to create a safe barrier between the residents and any perceived threats, as well as many other tools are used in the home security industry. There are also theories that say you should create a number of barriers to the entry. Historically, this was done with bushes and other maze type structures like rose bushes and trenches filled with water and alligators. Obviously, we do not use those systems today but the point of having a number of barriers between an intruder and you is still an important part of residential security systems.

Home alarm systems are installed in homes everyday. Outdoor wireless security cameras can be the best investment if your home is ever robbed. Most outdoor wireless security cameras send recording to a separate location without any time delay and this can provide the police with some of the best evidence should they have to investigate a home invasion. It is important to make sure that when you are installing residential security systems and outdoor wireless security cameras that they are going to work the way you wan them to work.

Many different home security systems work differently. Not all outdoor wireless security cameras have the added feature of live time recording at a different location. This is important because often times a criminal will attempt to steal or destroy the video system. Having a video system that has protection from this type of vandalism can help the police to catch the crook.

We all hope and believe that nothing bad is going to happen to us and our homes, but the truth is that it could happen to anyone. So, please be prepared and have the best wireless home security camera system you can afford.

Security cameras are being more widely used in homes everywhere. There was a time when wireless security camera systems were thought of only for businesses, and the very rich. Times have changed, and because of digital technology innovations, the cost of a security system has made it more attainable for the everyday home and small business owner.

To give you the peace of mind if you are at home or traveling, you can be protected with an indoor and outdoor wireless security camera. Wireless cameras eliminate the challenge that hiding wires inside walls or ceilings used to present. Traditional wiring presented many challenges for home owners. Wireless cameras not only make installation easier, but monitoring from home and away from home becomes a snap. Access from your laptop or smart phone can give you a sense of security when you are not at home with motion alerts triggering a notification to you.

In you are home, a single camera system can monitor the baby’s room or a remote camera at an elderly relative’s home that you can occasionally check in on will give you a certain peace of mind. A single camera system also is used in small businesses and small condos or apartments. If you want to monitor outside the home or business, locate the camera with a clear shot of entrance, make sure nothing impedes the sight of the lens. At a cost of less than $200, this is an affordable investment and you can always add on if you want to increase the security coverage.

For a multiple wireless security camera system, the complete installation can take less than a day. When purchasing the entire system it usually comes with the DVD monitor that will record live or be available for playback. Network access is an option strongly recommended. The system will send email notice when the system has been triggered. Always purchase a system that you can add on to, as you grow or your security needs grow. Indoors you can install cameras as small as a penny, a camera called a snake camera that can hide discreetly, or a traditional looking camera in chosen locations you want to secure. There are a variety of options for outside monitoring. Motion or light sensors in your surveillance camera can trigger an alarm, but an infrared camera will give you the best monitoring and recording results to evaluate your activity level outside.

The decision to secure your home or business is an affordable decision. A wireless security system can be custom designed to fit most any budget and be added on to as needed. Wireless kits can include two way microphones inside and key pad entry with security codes. They can also be digitally connected with most window and door sensor devices. Other accessories available are exterior siren and strobe lights, signs and decals announcing your protection, key fobs for on and off operation, and fire and smoke alarm integration. Knowing your home or business is safe while you sleep or are away by installing a wireless security camera system can give you an unparalleled peace of mind.

It is an unfortunate fact that crime is constantly around us. This is especially true if you live in the city, and these days it is very uncommon not to know at least one person who has been a victim of crime. So to protect yourself and your property, some form of alarm system is an absolute necessity.

There are two main kinds of home alarm systems to consider which include a wireless home security alarm system and a fixed alarm system. If you bought your house or apartment anytime in the last few years, it is likely to have a fixed system — this means that each room will have a sensor, and there will probably be a sensor on each window and one on the door. To connect the sensors, there will be cables running through the walls, which will have been installed by the alarm company when the building was being built (or when it was last refurbished).

However, if you already live in the building where you want to install an alarm, laying cables through the walls may not be an option – it’s likely that your landlord won’t like it very much, or if you own the building, you may not want to cause what could be considered damage to the walls. This is where the wireless burglar alarm is very useful. It allows you to have a main alarm box connected into the electricity supply in just one room of the house, and to have sensors all over the house.

The sensors are generally either motion sensors or motion activated cameras. In addition, extremely high-end systems (and this means that they’re out of the budget range of most of us) it is also possible to have infrared heat detecting sensors. However, for most of us, standard motion detectors or cameras work very well.

The motion detector works by looking for changes in what it sees in front of it. When there is a sudden change, the wireless sensor will send a signal back to the main alarm box to trip the alarm. This is normally enough to scare off any thief.

These days it is usually very important for everybody to have home insurance and contents’ insurance. If you don’t have a burglar alarm, the contents’ insurance premium will cost you much more than it otherwise would, so a wireless alarm system, which because it’s not fixed into the building you can conveniently install yourself, is an ideal investment.

However, for your insurance premium to be even less, it is very important to also have a fire detector. In the same manner as installing a security system, a wireless fire alarm system can be extremely beneficial. In addition to this, there really is not any excuse for not having fire detectors in your house; its just common sense to protect yourself and your family with these relatively inexpensive devices.

As most models are extremely convenient and quick to use, it is easy to simply purchase one online and install it yourself by following the instructions in the manual. The wireless home security alarm system and the fire detectors discussed above are both extremely worthwhile investments.

Home surveillance camera systems used to be just for the paranoid; however today installing one at your home is just common sense.

Modern life means that more and more of us are choosing to live together in crowded cities. Of course, there are advantages to this, in that we are closer to amenities and all of the things that we take for granted in our society. It also means that businesses find it easier to operate and we are able to get to work each day and earn a living. However, with greater population in small areas come all the negatives as well. Unfortunately, one of the biggest negatives is crime. The simple fact is that today it would be entirely irresponsible not to protect your home and your family. Home surveillance camera systems used to be just for the paranoid; however today installing one at your home is just common sense.

There are various types of home video surveillance systems available, including hard-wired and wireless systems. It really comes down to personal preference as to which on is used — hardwired is obviously a good idea if you are able to lay cables into the building, but for the sake of convenience, wireless is certainly easier.

Camera systems should be used in conjunction with burglar alarms — each one of these systems adds to your entire security system. The alarm is necessary for when you are asleep (to wake you if a burglar enters) and for when you are out of the house to try and scare off anybody who enters. Video surveillance cameras have two uses: The first is to record evidence of any crimes that are committed, so that if you are robbed and the police catch the criminal, there’s some evidence to prosecute them with. The second major benefit is that they are a deterrent to the thief entering your property in the first place. Thieves are generally opportunistic, meaning that they will choose the easiest house to break into (the one with the window open, or the one with the door that will be easy to break). This means that anything that can be done to put the criminal off is obviously a good thing – having a visible security camera may just deter the thief from entering your house at all.

In addition, the higher end security systems will usually provide both a burglar alarm and cameras. So when the alarm is tripped, the central office to which it is connected will then be able to access your security cameras to check if your property is at risk and, if so, alert the police. These are generally the most secure systems that are available because there is a person able to check and alert law enforcement if anything goes wrong. Systems that are not connected directly to an alarm company’s office will generally be connected to a video recorder (these days one with a hard drive will be used rather than videotape).

If you were to opt for a wireless system, many can now be connected directly to the Internet via a wireless router. This means that you can check your own security cameras from anywhere in the world as long as you have access to a computer and the internet, which is obviously extremely useful for your own peace of mind if you’re away from home a lot. There are companies available who employee people to check your wireless camera system too, so they can monitor the feed when you are out of the house. In a similar manner to the alarm company, they would alert the police in the event somebody broke in.

In some respects, it is unfortunate that these days people have to go to such lengths to ensure the safety of their property. However, even with crime levels as high as they are, by taking relatively small steps such as installing home surveillance camera systems you can really help to give yourself and your family and property, peace of mind.

Many factors lead homeowners to want to invest in residential security systems. Security is a prime concern for families who own the homes they live in – especially when there are children in the home.

There is something safe about knowing there is a code that only your family knows in order to access the home. Having a company that focuses on monitoring unauthorized movement and entry into your home is also a way to feel less vulnerable. You know that if there is an intruder to cannot supply the pass code, the local authorities will be notified – hopefully before there is any damage or theft.

Feeling as if you live in an unsafe neighborhood is chief among the concerns that lead to residential alarm monitoring. The perception of an unsafe home can escalate based on the location of the home (what other kinds of homes or residents are nearby) or based on a recurrence of break-ins or unlawful incidents in neighboring houses. When any of these scenarios occur, home security systems are the usual first line of defense for people to feel as if they can sleep at night.

Lots of Reasons to Invest in Residential Security Systems

Another reason people invest in residential security systems is to protect valuables. Many homeowners are huge investors in art and valuable artifacts. Some do not trust safe deposit boxes at banks and find a secure location in the house for valuables. Art work is usually hung on the walls. Some art work is worth five or six times what the owner paid for all the furniture in the house. A burglar who knows a little about art and recognizes the value of an original painting could walk away with it all before local law enforcement arrives.

Domestic conflict has also created a good reason for home security systems. In 2008, women accounted for 85 percent of all cases of violence involving intimate partners. Men accounted for 15 percent. Breakups, divorces, or simple routine arguing can often get out of hand and leave one or both of the partners at risk. If one moves out, there is a strong need for the partner who remains in the home to protect his or her personal self as well as assets.

Why So Much Focus on Residential Security Systems Lately?

One other reason residential security systems now enjoy an upsurge of sales is connected to a struggling world economy. In tough times, crime incidents involving burglary rise significantly. The prototype criminal is no longer a street urchin who goes from station to station collecting what he can to survive. It could very possible be a neighbor or someone you know.

It is not uncommon for people to allow familiar faces into their homes and then discover that the same invitees are the burglars. They have had access to the home because you gave it to them, and often, they know where every valuable is hidden.

No matter what your reason, you must make sure you are dealing with a reputable company, with high quality equipment, competent installation and record response time. One day your home and your life could depend on your residential security systems.
