Reasons for Installing Fake Security Cameras

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Before, people could find safety and security in the comforts of their home. But these days, even your home is not safe. There are several cases of burglaries and other crimes that took place inside people’s houses. It is not enough that you lock your doors because intruders will find a way to pry your locks open. What you need is additional security that will tell would-be intruders that you mean business and to back off.

One way to make your home and property safer and more secure is by installing fake security cameras. When choosing a fake security camera, you should choose something that looks very real. The burglars, trespassers, or even people who happen to pass by your property should not be able to tell the difference between the real and the fake security camera.

You might ask, why waste your money buying fake security cameras, why not buy the real thing that can monitor certain area sin your home and property? Here are some of the main reasons for installing fake security cameras.

  • First, fake cameras are way cheaper than real cameras. You can buy them for as low as $30. Real security cameras cost as much as several hundred dollars, which is too heavy for many people’s pocketbooks. Security cameras can deter intruders or burglars just like real cameras. The only difference is that fake cameras cannot record and show footage, unlike real cameras.
  • Some burglars who realized that there is a camera in the property might decide to break the gadget. If the burglar broke a fake security camera, it would not be a big deal because it is cheap. But if the burglar broke a real security camera, it means you just lost a gadget worth several hundred dollars. Many people install real cameras in hidden areas in their house and they install fake cameras in obvious places for this reason. And even if the fake cam is broken, you will still be able to catch the burglar because your real camera is still recording.

These are just a couple of reasons why people install fake security cameras at home in addition to their real security cameras. You should also think about investing in these cheap security gadgets to keep burglars and intruders off your property.

The Value of a Fake Security Camera

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

In challenging economic times like we’re experiencing now, many homeowners find themselves in a dilemma in which fake security cameras may well be able to help them.  You see, with unemployment high and more and more people hurting, it’s inevitable that home burglaries and even home invasions will be on the rise as desperate people turn to desperate means.  Of course we all want and need to protect our families and our property, but at the same time, we’re struggling just to get by and the thought of coming up with a bunch of money to deter these would-be criminals is just too difficult to deal with.  What you need is an inexpensive solution to help tell these creeps to move along and NOT target your house.  And fake security cameras can serve that purpose quite well indeed.

The first thing worth noting before we go any further is that while fake cameras that imitate the real closed circuit TV camerals (or cctv security cameras) may be a deterrent to some opportunistic criminals, in reality they do nothing to actually help in crime fighting.

What I mean by that is that a real security camera should be able to help you identify, catch and prosecute any criminal that perpetrates a crime on your property.  If you rely on nothing but fake cameras and something actually does go down at your house or business… you’re not going to have anything on record to help your cause.  So…

With that said, and with the understanding that ‘fake security cameras’ aren’t the equivalent of a real residential security system, it is worth looking at them as a kind of band aid and something that may serve you well without you needing to shell out a whole lot of money.

You see, many home burglaries are nothing more than crimes of opportunity.  What that means is that someone is passing by, or maybe they have even been casing your neighborhood for a while, and when they decide to strike, your house is the one they (unfortunately) decide to zero in on.  For a situation like this, consider for a moment if you were in the perpetrator’s shoes; You walk up to the house you’ve decided to break into, and whether it’s the front door, back door or garage, before you decide to force the lock you look around and see… a surveillance camera with a red blinking light pointing right at where you will need to be standing to get to the door.  What are you going to do?

I’ll tell you what most hoodlums will do – they’ll move along and decide NOT to target your home!  And guess how much that fake security camera cost you?  Probably somewhere between $30 and $50.  Not bad!

If you doubt that a fake camera has any real power to deter, think about this for a moment.

Have you ever been driving down the street or highway and you’re not paying attention to your speed (or maybe you even know that you’re exceeding the speed limit).  All of a sudden, you see a black and white police car parked on the side of the road.  Whoa!  You’re going to step on your breaks, even if you WEREN’T speeding, just to play it safe.  And guess what?  You don’t even know for sure if there is a police officer sitting in that car or not.  It might be empty and you’re in zero danger of getting a ticket for breaking the law.  But… you’re not going to wait to find out if it’s a ‘legitimate’ speed trap or not, are you?  No!  You’re just going to do your best to be a law abiding citizen as you go about your business.

It’s the same thing with a fake security camera!  Why would a thief bother to come and take a close look to figure out if it’s a ‘legitimate’ camera?  Because maybe it IS, in which case they are totally busted!  Instead, they’re just going to take the easy way out (they are criminals after all, right?), and move along to a new target.

Again, when it comes to your family and your home security, I don’t recommend cutting any corners unnecessarily.  At the same time, I understand all too well the situation that far too many of us are in, and we still need to do whatever we can to protect our loved ones.  Even if you already have some sort of residential security system in place, adding fake security cameras to the mix can be a good way to add just a little bit more… to keep those crooks second guessing just a little bit more.

Outdoor Wireless Security Camera Systems

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Outdoor wireless security camera systems are an important part of a residential security system. Many people choose to install home alarm systems for any number of reasons. The number of residential security systems on the market today can be to numerous to count. Every one of the home alarm systems that are on the market offer different features. While they may seem to be similar, do not be fooled. You get what you pay for and if you are not familiar with what is on the market then you many not get the system you are looking for.

Home alarm systems can work very differently.  Some work through telephone lines and others through cable lines. Finding residential security systems that have the important components you want can be difficult. First, you have to know what you want. Do you just want a system that makes a lot of noise or do you want a system that is going to send police and respond to the situation with a live person?  Regardless of which direction you choose to go, one of the best items you can include in your home security is the outdoor wireless security camera.

In order to ensure total security, an outdoor wireless security camera is one of the most valuable tools that a home security company will use. Movie stars and others with wealth use a wireless home security camera as the most important component to their residential security system. Home alarm systems often use a wireless home security camera as the main component. Other devices may be used along with a security camera.

Security guards, lasers that detect movement, security rooms (also referred to as ’safe rooms’) that are designed to create a safe barrier between the residents and any perceived threats, as well as many other tools are used in the home security industry. There are also theories that say you should create a number of barriers to the entry. Historically, this was done with bushes and other maze type structures like rose bushes and trenches filled with water and alligators. Obviously, we do not use those systems today but the point of having a number of barriers between an intruder and you is still an important part of residential security systems.

Home alarm systems are installed in homes everyday. Outdoor wireless security cameras can be the best investment if your home is ever robbed. Most outdoor wireless security cameras send recording to a separate location without any time delay and this can provide the police with some of the best evidence should they have to investigate a home invasion.  It is important to make sure that when you are installing residential security systems and outdoor wireless security cameras that they are going to work the way you wan them to work.

Many different home security systems work differently. Not all outdoor wireless security cameras have the added feature of live time recording at a different location. This is important because often times a criminal will attempt to steal or destroy the video system. Having a video system that has protection from this type of vandalism can help the police to catch the crook.

We all hope and believe that nothing bad is going to happen to us and our homes, but the truth is that it could happen to anyone. So, please be prepared and have the best wireless home security camera system you can afford.

Residential Security Systems

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Many factors lead homeowners to want to invest in residential security systems. Security is a prime concern for families who own the homes they live in – especially when there are children in the home.

There is something safe about knowing there is a code that only your family knows in order to access the home. Having a company that focuses on monitoring unauthorized movement and entry into your home is also a way to feel less vulnerable. You know that if there is an intruder to cannot supply the pass code, the local authorities will be notified – hopefully before there is any damage or theft.

Feeling as if you live in an unsafe neighborhood is chief among the concerns that lead to residential alarm monitoring. The perception of an unsafe home can escalate based on the location of the home (what other kinds of homes or residents are nearby) or based on a recurrence of break-ins or unlawful incidents in neighboring houses. When any of these scenarios occur, home security systems are the usual first line of defense for people to feel as if they can sleep at night.

Another reason people invest in residential security systems is to protect valuables. Many homeowners are huge investors in art and valuable artifacts. Some do not trust safe deposit boxes at banks and find a secure location in the house for valuables. Art work is usually hung on the walls. Some art work is worth five or six times what the owner paid for all the furniture in the house. A burglar who knows a little about art and recognizes the value of an original painting could walk away with it all before local law enforcement arrives.

Domestic conflict has also created a good reason for home security systems. In 2008, women accounted for 85 percent of all cases of violence involving intimate partners. Men accounted for 15 percent. Breakups, divorces, or simple routine arguing can often get out of hand and leave one or both of the partners at risk. If one moves out, there is a strong need for the partner who remains in the home to protect his or her personal self as well as assets.

One other reason residential security systems now enjoy an upsurge of sales is connected to a struggling world economy. In tough times, crime incidents involving burglary rise significantly. The prototype criminal is no longer a street urchin who goes from station to station collecting what he can to survive. It could very possible be a neighbor or someone you know.

It is not uncommon for people to allow familiar faces into their homes and then discover that the same invitees are the burglars. They have had access to the home because you gave it to them, and often, they know where every valuable is hidden.

No matter what your reason is for purchasing residential security systems, you must make sure you are dealing with a reputable company, with high quality equipment, competent installation and record response time. Your home and your life could depend on it.
